Representing SASOP at the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ International Congress, London (24-27 June 2014)

A SASOP delegation attended the Royal College of Psychiatrists' International Congress in London from 24 to 27 June 2014. Dr Ian Westmore and myself met with officials of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, including outgoing College President, Professor Dame Sue Bailey, and incoming President, Professor Sir Simon Wessely. We were able to discuss current pressing matters in South African Psychiatry, as well as the hosting of the WPA International Congress in 2016. We were also able to meet with and report to WPA President-Elect, Prof. Dinesh Bhugra, and WPA Secretary of Sections, Dr. Afzal Javed. We met with representatives from the APA, the Australian and New Zeeland and Hong Kong societies of psychiatry.
